The August days have gone from blistering to suddenly containing a hint of autumn: a tingle of orange on the tree leaves, heavy dew in the morning, the sun more yellow right after dawn...

And Book 3 of the Darkwing Chronicles, Beneath the Skin, is finished. In it, my vampire heroine, Daphne Urban, descends into darkness, and perhaps nearly into hell, and she makes a shocking decision of the the heart. She also confronts head-on the ethical conflicts between her determination to stop terrorism and the reality of the horrors of war. She has no easy answers, but she's asking the right questions.

Once again, the great, unparalleled city of New York provides the backdrop for her adventures, and as much as possible the places described really exist . . . except for the vampire club of course.
